Dr. Najim Uddin, Senior Consultant in Neuro Medicine, holds MBBS, MRCP from the United Kingdom, MCPS (Medicine), and MD in Neurology, with more than 20 years of experience. He has also completed a clinical attachment in stroke in the United Kingdom, epilepsy training in Oman, and training in botulinum toxin therapy and neurophysiology in India.

Investigations Available
Accurate neurology depends on the right test at the right time. Our radiology department provides CT and MRI, both on the ground floor of the Diagnostic and Therapeutic block, next to emergency. CT is the first scan in suspected stroke because it distinguishes bleeding from a clot within minutes, and that distinction decides the entire treatment.
For nerve and muscle disease, nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG) measure how well signals travel, which separates a nerve root problem from a peripheral neuropathy. EEG records electrical activity in the brain and supports the diagnosis and classification of epilepsy.
Our laboratory runs the biochemistry, hematology, and microbiology needed alongside, including cerebrospinal fluid analysis where a lumbar puncture is indicated.
Stroke Care at Apollo Imperial Hospitals
Stroke needs everything in one building. Our emergency department, CT and MRI, laboratory, ICU, and Neuro ICU sit inside the same hospital, so a suspected stroke patient is scanned and assessed without any transfer.
Patients needing intensive monitoring are admitted to our dedicated Neuro ICU, part of a 66-bed critical care department with one-to-one nursing and 24-hour supervision by an ICU specialist. Physiotherapy supports recovery of movement and mobility afterwards.
Living With a Long-term Neurological Condition
Epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis are managed over years, not weeks. Medication needs adjusting, side effects need monitoring, and the patient needs to understand the condition well enough to manage it at home.
For epilepsy, that means identifying the seizure type before choosing the drug, since the wrong anti-epileptic can worsen certain seizure types.
