Apollo Imperial Hospitals: a Complete Look at Our Services in Chattogram

Services in Chattogram

Healthcare is a basic need, and for the people of greater Chattogram, it needs to be available close to home. Apollo Imperial Hospitals grew out of a joint initiative by leading citizens of Chattogram and the Chittagong Eye Hospital Trust. The aim behind it was clear: bring internationally comparable treatment to the city at a cost local families can manage, and reduce the number of patients who travel abroad for care that can be delivered here.

The hospital began its journey on 15 June 2019 as a tertiary care center. On 13 December 2022, it brought in the clinical experience of the Apollo Hospitals Group of India and started operating under the name Apollo Imperial Hospitals.

The Building and the Location

The 350-bed hospital was built with input from architects and skilled technicians, and each department was planned around three practical concerns: patient safety, infection control, and comfort. Every room admits enough daylight to support recovery and rest.

We are located close to Foy’s Lake, so patients arriving from any district of the country can reach us without difficulty. Parking is available on site for patients and attendants.

Emergency and Trauma Care, 24 Hours a Day

Our Emergency and Trauma Department stays staffed and ready every hour of the day. A dedicated team of emergency physicians, trained nurses, and support staff works across observation beds, treatment beds, a resuscitation area, a cast room, an isolation room, and an emergency operation theater.

We also run an ambulance service fitted with ICU-level equipment, so a critically ill patient receives monitoring and support from the moment of pick-up until handover inside the hospital.

Outpatient Department

Our OPD covers more than 25 specialties. Consultants see patients in fixed appointment slots, which keeps waiting times predictable and gives each patient adequate consultation time. Appointments can be booked through our care center, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with trained representatives who also answer general queries about hospital services.

Laboratory and Imaging

labratory and imaging

Our Department of Laboratory Medicine offers home sample collection along with in-hospital collection, and it releases reports quickly without compromising accuracy.

The Department of Radiology and Imaging runs:

  • CT scan;
  • MRI;
  • digital X-ray;
  • ultrasonography;
  • mammography.

Endoscopy and colonoscopy are performed with high-definition equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disease.

Cardiac Diagnostics and Cardiac Surgery

Cardiology remains one of our strongest departments, both in diagnosis and in surgical treatment. On the diagnostic side, we perform ECG, exercise tolerance testing (ETT), e-bike stress testing, Holter monitoring, echocardiography, and coronary angiography.

For patients who need surgical correction, our cardiac surgery team performs open heart surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS), and minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB). Minimally invasive procedures use smaller incisions, which shorten hospital stays and reduce post-operative pain for suitable candidates.

Critical Care

Our critical care setup is divided by clinical need. Adult patients are managed in the MICU, SICU, HDU, CCU, CICU, Neuro ICU, and the surgical care unit. Newborns and children are cared for in the NICU, PICU, and SCABU, along with kangaroo mother care (KMC) facilities for preterm and low-birth-weight babies.

We also run a lower-cost intensive care service named Nibir, so families with limited means can still access monitored critical care.

Operation Theatres

We have 14 modern operation theaters, with dedicated theaters for gynecological, pediatric, cardiac, neurosurgical, orthopedic, urological, and general surgery. Experienced anaesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and a trained nursing team support each procedure.

Infection control inside the theater complex and across the hospital is monitored by our Infection Control Department, backed by a Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) that handles sterilization of instruments and surgical linen. Strict sterilization protocol directly reduces post-operative infection and shortens recovery time.

Haematology and Hemato-oncology

Our Hematology Department treats the full range of blood disorders, from common conditions such as iron deficiency anemia to inherited disorders such as thalassemia and blood cancers including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

Conditions we manage include:

  • acute and chronic leukaemia;
  • Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma;
  • multiple myeloma and other plasma cell disorders;
  • anaemia of all types;
  • bleeding disorders, including haemophilia and thrombocytopenia;
  • myeloproliferative neoplasms;
  • thalassaemia and other haemoglobin disorders;
  • coagulation and thrombotic disorders;
  • congenital and acquired bone marrow failure syndromes;
  • primary and acquired immunodeficiency diseases.

Diagnosis is supported by an in-house hematology laboratory that performs a complete blood count, automated reticulocyte count, and peripheral blood film examination reported by a hematologist. We also perform bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy, hemoglobin electrophoresis for hemoglobinopathies, protein electrophoresis for plasma cell disorders, and flow cytometry for immunophenotyping of leukemia and for minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment after chemotherapy.

Our hemato-oncology day care unit administers chemotherapy under supervision, with a biosafety cabinet for drug preparation, trained oncology nurses, and a clinical pharmacist. Blood component transfusions run in both day care and inpatient settings under the supervision of a transfusion specialist, and thalassemia patients receive a dedicated transfusion package. Counselling is available for cancer patients and their families throughout treatment.

Blood Bank and Transfusion

Our blood bank supplies red cell concentrate, platelets collected by apheresis, and fresh frozen plasma. Therapeutic plasma exchange is available for patients who need it. The hospital also maintains a high-quality medical gas system across all clinical areas.

Specialised Units

Our dialysis unit runs sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), both of which suit hemodynamically unstable patients better than conventional intermittent hemodialysis. Physiotherapy services support recovery after surgery, stroke, and orthopedic injury.

The vaccination center administers nationally and internationally approved vaccines for children and adults under safe storage and handling conditions.

Our Master Health Checkup department offers screening packages at modest cost for people who want to check their health status before symptoms appear. Early detection of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and several cancers changes the entire course of treatment.

Child Development Centre

The Child Development Centre (CDC) assesses and treats developmental, behavioral, and emotional problems in children. Pediatric specialists, psychologists, and speech and language therapists work together on assessment, therapy planning, and follow-up, with parents involved at every stage.

Art Clinic for Infertility Treatment

Our assisted reproductive technology clinic treats couples facing infertility. Fertility specialists and gynecologists provide in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), and medical management of infertility. Every consultation and record stays confidential.

Inpatient Accommodation

Our inpatient wing offers air-conditioned super deluxe, deluxe, single, and shared cabins, each planned for a comfortable stay and continuous nursing care. For patients who need affordable inpatient treatment, we run a general bed service named Anubhab, which gives access to the same clinical teams at a lower cost.

Pharmacy, Nutrition & Hospitality

Our supermodel pharmacy stocks chemotherapy drugs, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and rare medicines, with a supply chain built to source items that are difficult to obtain locally. Medication is dispensed under pharmacist supervision.

Patient meals are planned by qualified nutritionists according to clinical condition since diet influences wound healing, glycemic control, and recovery time.

For patients and attendants travelling from outside the city, we provide residential accommodation along with a hospitality and cafeteria zone where food is prepared and served under hygienic conditions.
